Frequently Asked Questions

Below are the questions customers ask most often before choosing a POS system. If yours is not answered here, please contact us directly.

Before You Buy

How long does it take from signing to going live?

Usually one to two weeks.

Can data from my old system be transferred, or does it have to be re-entered by hand?

It does not. Member records, products and service items can all be imported from Excel, and every report can be exported to Excel, making it straightforward to move across from your old system or to carry out further analysis.

Can I keep using my existing hardware, or must I buy it from you?

You do not have to buy from us. Send us the model numbers of your existing devices and we will verify whether they work with the system. If they do, there is no need to purchase anything further.

What hardware do you supply?

Touchscreen commercial computers (all-in-one POS, water- and dust-resistant, pre-loaded with the current version of Windows); barcode scanners (wireless Bluetooth, standard, 2D scanners that read QR codes, countertop units, and handheld terminals for stocktaking); barcode label printers (supporting label stock up to 3 inches wide); thermal receipt printers (commonly using 80mm thermal paper); cash drawers (large 460×470×125mm, medium 410×416×110mm, small 360×410×120mm); and fingerprint readers. Specific models are recommended based on availability at the time and on your requirements.

Is the hardware covered by a warranty, and for how long?

Hardware warranties are provided by the original manufacturer: professional-brand all-in-one POS units carry a one-year on-site warranty, and compact desktop computers with a 15-inch touchscreen monitor carry a one-year carry-in warranty.

Do you provide training?

We provide on-site training, usually completed within one to three hours. The front-of-house screens work like an ordinary cash register, so staff need no computer experience.

How long does it take staff to learn the system?

The front-of-house screens work like an ordinary cash register. Most staff pick up order entry and payment within a few minutes to half an hour, and no computer experience is required. On-site training is also available and usually takes one to three hours.

Payments and Card Processing

Which payment methods does the system support?

Cash, EPS, Faster Payment System (FPS), Visa, Mastercard, American Express, UnionPay card, PayMe, AlipayHK, WeChat Pay HK, Apple Pay, Google Pay, PayPal, and instalment payment.

The system is integrated with QFPay, eftPay and Yedpay payment terminals. Once an order is entered, the amount is sent from the POS straight to the terminal, so the cashier does not key it in again. When payment completes, the result is written back automatically to that transaction and to the member's purchase history.

Do I need a separate merchant account to accept electronic payments?

Yes. The merchant account must be applied for by you directly with the third-party payment service provider. We handle the integration between the system and the payment terminal.

How the System Works

Can one system manage multiple branches?

Yes. Shops run MePOS, and as branches are added the JetPlus head-office system can be layered on top to manage them centrally. Product data is maintained once at head office and applied across every shop, with shops and head office linked in real time over a fixed IP. Franchise stock can also be viewed and supplied on a wholesale basis. You can start with a single shop and expand later without changing systems or re-entering data.

Can I still ring up sales when the internet is down?

Yes. MePOS runs independently offline, so sales can still be entered when the connection drops; once the network is back, the data is sent to the JetPlus head-office system automatically. Short-term roadshow counters can also transmit data over WiFi.

Where is the data stored, and is it backed up?

Data can be stored on our cloud, with system backup included. If you prefer to keep the data yourself, we will show you in person how to back the system up.

What reports are available, and can I see individual staff performance?

Standard reports include the daily salesperson report, the daily sales detail report and the product sales ranking report, and each industry edition adds its own. Report columns can be customised, and reports can be scheduled to generate and print automatically every day or even every hour, or to be emailed to a specified address on a set schedule.

How does online booking work, and do customers need to download an app?

There are two ways in: staff enter the booking directly when a customer calls or walks in, or the customer books themselves through the online booking system. Online booking is web-based, so customers complete it in a mobile browser with no app to download. Bookings made either way sync instantly to the same schedule, so there are no clashes.

Do customers receive booking confirmations and reminders?

Once a booking is made, you can choose to send an immediate confirmation by email or SMS, and a reminder can also be sent before the appointment date to reduce no-shows.

Notifications sent by email carry no additional charge. Notifications sent by SMS or WhatsApp incur an additional charge, which depends on the telecommunications provider and is not related to our company.

Do you support online shops, and how do the online shop and the physical shop stay in sync?

MePOS integrates with the SHOPLINE e-commerce platform, syncing order records, stock quantities, member tiers and promotions in real time. An online sale immediately reduces shop stock, and whether a customer buys online or in store, the purchase is recorded against the same member profile.

Industry Editions

Which industry does my shop fall under, and is there a dedicated edition?

Current industry editions cover beauty salons and foot massage, car detailing, hair salons, retail (snack shops, fashion boutiques, cosmetics shops, gift shops, grocery stores and similar), pharmacies, supermarkets and frozen meat shops, Chinese medicine clinics, and chain stores. An O2O online-shop integration solution is also available.

Beauty salons: how are prepaid packages and treatments deducted?

Each time a package is used, one session is written off immediately. The system compiles four follow-up lists every day: today's bookings, treatments and packages nearing expiry, birthday reminders, and outstanding balances. Each entry can be marked as contacted, so two staff members do not call the same customer twice.

Pharmacies: do I have to enter every medicine record myself?

No. The system comes with over ten thousand medicine records built in, including drug registration numbers, and new products can be added quickly by scanning a barcode. The same product can be sold by piece, box or carton, and the checkout screen automatically shows the equivalent amount in foreign currency.

Chinese medicine clinics: can the system print sick leave certificates?

Yes. Electronic prescriptions are sent straight to the dispensary, and the system prints prescriptions, medicine packet labels, sick leave certificates and attendance certificates. It also supports acupuncture and bone-setting consultations (bone-setting records accept both images and text), multiple practitioners, practitioner sign-in and commission splitting, and session-by-session deduction of treatment packages such as Sanfu moxibustion.

Frozen meat shops and wet markets: how do electronic scales connect?

The electronic scale connects directly to the register. Set a unit price for each item once, and when goods are weighed the system calculates the price from the weight and prints a pre-packaging label — no manual arithmetic and no handwritten price tags.

Hair salons: how is stylist commission calculated?

Commission rules can be set separately by stylist grade and by whether the customer is new or returning. The booking schedule manages stylists and salon equipment together, so the same machine cannot be double-booked.
